Tentative final grades are posted here. Please report any clerical errors to me before Friday, December 22, at which point I will submit the final grades. Your term papers can be picked up from me in my office.

Dec 6 - The deadline for the research project papers has been extended to Monday, Dec. 11, 4:30 PM.
Dec 1 - A tutorial on using PGP with the Evolution email systme (linux OS) has been posted on the "handouts" page.
Nov 24 - The word appearing in the plaintext for the second bonus problem in Assignment 4 is "cavalry."
Nov 22 - Powerpoint slides for a talk on the connection between trust and security, especially as related to PKI, have been added to the "links" page.
Nov 15 - 3 articles on provable security and a CCA attack on the predecessor of RSA-OAEP have been added to the "links" page.
Nov 10 - Assignment 4 has been posted and is due on Dec 1.
Nov 6 - Assignment 3, Problem 6 (2) asks you to recover the message using only publicly available information. This means that you should not factor n nor compute either of the private keys, for example, using Part (1).
Nov 6 - Notes on symetry of position (useful for solving mixed Vigenere ciphers) are available on the "handouts" page.
Oct 30 - The lecture on monday will be held as scheduled (topic: Rabin-Williams PKC). The lectures on Nov 1 and 3 are cancelled.
Oct 20 - Assignment 3 has been posted and is due on Nov 10.
Oct 20 - Solutions to Assignment 2 have been posted.
Oct 6 - The lecture on Wed, Oct 11 has been cancelled. On Friday, Oct. 13, Kjell Wooding will give a guest lecture on "Insecurity in the Wild," discussing a variety of vulnerabilities discovered in real-world cryptosystems, including weaknesses in CBC-mode and stream cipher key stream re-use.
Oct 6 - The deadline for Assignment 2 has been extended to Monday, Oct. 16.

Sept 27 - Assignment 2 has been posted and is due on Oct 13.
Sept 27 - Notes on finite field arithmetic in rijndael (AES) have been posted on the "handouts" page.
Sept 27 - Notes on modular arithmetic, groups, and finite fields have been posted on the "handouts" page. This material will be used during the discussion of AES and public-key cryptography.
Sept 27 - The notes on DES on the "handouts" page have been expanded to include a discussion of the strenghts and weaknesses of DES.
Sept 22 - Corrections to the perfect security lecture can be downloaded here.
Sept 13 - A research project description and two sample project proposals have been posted on the "handouts" page.
Sept 13 - Assignment 1 has been posted and is due on Sept 29.
Aug 29 - Numerous cryptography and security references can be found on the "links" page.
