Title: Overview of Research Vision Re-Tabletop
Start Time: 11/26/2009 - 15:30
End Time: 11/26/2009 - 16:00
Location: ICT 516
Speaker: Sriram Subramanian
Abstract:
The Bristol Interaction and graphics group is carrying out research in new forms of tabletop interactions that extend beyond multi touch systems. We have been investigating the combination of haptics, multi-touch and multi-view interactions for multiple application domains. In this talk, I will present some of the research we are undertaking in how novel sensors and optical systems can be integrated to create these new forms of user interactions. I will also present some example applications we have been look at for the manipulation of cells through optical tweezers.
Biography:Dr. Sriram Subramanian is a co-director of the interation and graphics group at the University of Bristol (UK), with a research interests in Human-Computer Interaction particularly on expanding the input bandwith. His research is concerned with combining hardware electronics with clever design to enable end-users to fluidly and effortlessness engage with the real world through a computer mediated systems. Prior to joining Bristol he has held positions as an Assistant Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Saskachewan in Canada and as a senior scientist at Philips Research labs in the Netherlands.
Refreshments will be served before the talk.
