Campus Parking & Dining

Parking

There’s no denying it – parking is a precious commodity at the University of Calgary, and demand definitely outweighs supply. New students wanting a parking space must place their name on the appropriate lot wait list. Depending on the lot, students can wait 18 to 36 months to secure a stall on campus.

However, pay lots are available for students on the list for a permanent spot, or wanting an alternative to a semester or year pass. There are two parkades for public parking – the MacEwan Students' Centre Parkade and the Art Parkade. You can buy a permit each semester for the Art Parkade, or for parking at nearby McMahon Stadium.

Carpooling can also be a wise choice. In Lots 10, 11 and 32, vehicles with three or more people gain entry for a reduced daily fee. For more information on parking, visit the Parking Services site.

See the campus map to get a better idea of the location of parking lots.

Dining

A Residence Dining Program is available for residence students living in Rundle Hall and Kananaskis Hall, which do not have kitchen facilities. Students choose a Dining Plan to meet their individual needs. The program is "user-pay" whereby all food items are individually priced (a la carte), so that you are only charged for the food you eat. For more information, visit the Food Services site.

The Alberta Room Cafeteria is a full service cafeteria open seven days a week, breakfast through to dinner. This is the largest retail food service operation on campus, and it is also home base to the Residential Dining Program.

The grad lounge (called The Last Defence) is a licensed restaurant and lounge operated by the GSA for grad students and their guests. It is located on the third floor of MacEwan Student Centre.

The Den and The Black Lounge, operated by the Students’ Union, are located on the first and second levels of MacEwan Student Centre.

MacEwan Student Centre offers a variety of options. You can buy a variety of fast food at the food court or at a number of other locations around the University.
