International students and those with overseas degrees need to check that they meet the specific degree requirements as found on the Faculty of Graduate Studies website before completing the official application form.
The applicant must submit the following documents in addition to the on-line application form:
- Official TOEFL/IELTS/GRE scores. To demonstrate proficiency in the English language, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for applicants whose native language is not English. The Department usually requires an official score of at least 600 (100 on the internet-based test) in order to secure admission and financial support. When submitting an application, official scores must be sent directly from the testing institution and can only be reported for a period of two years from the testing date. We will also accept an IELTS score of 7.5.
Note: Applicants who have resided in Canada (or another English-speaking country) for at least five consecutive years prior to applying to The University of Calgary, or those completing a Bachelor's degree at a university located in an English-speaking country, may apply for exemption from the TOEFL requirement.
- Two official copies of transcripts in both the original language and the English translation from the applicant's university. If degree certificates are issued, then two copies of these, in the original language and in English, must also be provided.
- $130 Canadian non-refundable application fee.
