Dr. S.-H. Gary Chan (S'\;89-M'\;98-SM'\;03) received MSE and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (Stanford\, CA)\, with a minor in business administration. He obtained his B.S.E. degree (highest honor) in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University (Princeton\, NJ)\, with certificates in Applied and Computational Mathematics\, Engineering Physics\, and Engineering and Management Systems. He is currently an Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering\, Director of Sino Software Research Institute\, and Co-director of Risk Management and Business Intelligence program\, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)\, Hong Kong. His research interest includes multimedia networking\, overlay streaming and technologies\, and wireless communication networks.
Dr. Chan has been an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (2006-11). He has been Guest Editors of IEEE Signal Processing Magazine (2011)\, IEEE Communication Magazine (2007)\, and Springer Multimedia Tools and Applications (2007). He is the recipient of Google Mobile 2014 award 2010-12\, and was a William and Leila Fellow at Stanford University.
